Aesthetically Reading #3

What is Aesthetically Reading? It’s a new feature on my blog where I showcase photographs of books I own. Books are supposed to be aesthetically pleasing. You want a book you enjoy looking at when you aren’t immersed into the story. There are little things that make books special that aren’t inside the story, but that make up the physical copy. It could be the spine, dust jacket, art work, or anything that I think is worth sharing. I hope that this can help you decide whether you want to buy a copy of this book or not because it is definitely worth it. Note: I will be showcasing my ARC copies, which aren’t finished, but are still fun to show. I hope you enjoy this feature!

Previously featured: Across the Universe

Today I'll be featuring my copy of:

Allegiant by Veronica Roth
Published: October 2013
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books
Page Count: 532
Summary (taken from GR) SPOILERS FOR BOOK 1 & 2:  The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered - fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she's known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris's new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningliess. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend to complexities of human nature - and of herself - while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

Told from a riveting dual perspective, ALLEGIANT, by #1 New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth, brings the DIVERGENT series to a powerful conclusion while revealing the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in DIVERGENT and INSURGENT.

I do like the cover for Allegiant, but it's not a cover I'm particularly fond of. Out of the trilogy this has the nicest color scheme, but the weakest cover. My edition is the original hardback.

While I'm not the biggest fan of the cover, I absolutely love the  spine. The way the reds and oranges blend together is absolutely beautiful. It's very striking to have on your shelf.

The most memorable thing about the layout for these novels is the big block and bolded text. I do like the way the novel's colors seamlessly blend into the front, spine, and back. It makes Allegiant look very well designed.

I love the emblem on this novel. Underneath the dusk jacket, the cover is striking and bold. It's just a very eye-catching color and design. I love it more than the cover. This is one of those times where the book looks better naked.

Spine game strong. This is a very shimmering spine under the dusk jacket. I love it!

The end papers are very foreboding. I love endpapers in hardcovers. They make me happy and while these aren't anything striking. They are dark and intense in person.

The cover page is simple and still keeps to the dark and luminescent feel.

The title page is no different from the cover page.

The chapter titles stick to the bold letter theme. They alternate between Tris and Four's perspectives.

Should you buy a copy of Allegiant?
I would only recommend buying the hardback if you love your books to match or are a fan of the Divergent trilogy. Otherwise run back to the compounds because Allegiant drug the Divergent trilogy into the ground. (At least for me.)

Other editions include:
18710190
Besides the American editions the other popular covers for Allegiant are the UK editions. I definitely prefer the US editions of this trilogy, but I do see the appeal of these covers to certain audiences.

Do you plan on buying a copy of Allegiant? Do you already own it? Have you read it? Which edition do you own? Let me know down below in the comments!

    1. Oh yea! I can totally understand those editions looking nice on a shelf. These are just very striking, but I'm sure that the splashes of color with black are very beautiful.
