Hey, everyone! This is the last of my backlist videos. Whoohoo! I actually liked and recommend all the books in this video. This rarely happens with so may gems back-to-back. I had a lot of fun talking about Frankenstein and Oryx and Crake in particular.
THE BOOKS:
The Case for Jesus: The Biblical and Historical Evidence for Christ by Brant Pitre- 5 stars This is a very in depth look at historical evidence that supports the evidence of Jesus existing as well as the claims of miracles he was performing outside of the Bible. It also tests the apocrypha gospels and the claims they make and how some are proven false and fake accounts. It's a definitely interesting historical take. It was like listening to a lecture and I enjoyed it.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley- 4 stars I always want to love famous horror novels more than I do. Much like my experience with Dracula it has some wonderful and gripping moments, but is overall wracked with boring subplots and overwritten descriptions. I wanted to love this completely, but it was a bit of a chore for me.
Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood- 5 stars This redeemed my love for Atwood. I adore this novel. It's a fantastic dystopian novel with themes on creation, obsession, and survival. I can't recommend this novel enough.
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys- 5 stars (reread) This audiobook was so good and it made my rereading experience memorable. I love this book and I'm a huge fan of Sepetys' work. She is a brilliant writer in the historical fiction genre. Check out my review here.
