Hey, everyone! April was month where I collected a lot of old school horror paperbacks, Fear Street books, Christopher Pike, and Point Horror. It was exciting and I tried to find good deals, so I wasn't overpaying for the books that I found. Here is a list of the books I purchased. I'm in the middle of moving books from my house to apartment, so I probably won't have photos of the physical books.
THE BOOKS:
Christopher Pike
Bound to You: Spellbound and See You Later I bought this bind-up, but I do plan to buy these two books in their original covers. I'll probably either keep this or put it in my classroom.
To Die For: Slumber Party and Weekend I don't love this cover, but I prefer it to the two original covers for Slumber Party and Weekend.
Scavenger Hunt sounds like a lot of fun and is one that I owned for a long time and then gave away. Then repurchased. LOL
The Eternal Enemy I love this cover. Also another book I got rid of and rebought. LMAO
The Starlight Crystal This was a rare book so I had to pay $25 for it at my bookstore when I found a copy, but I dropped that money quick only to find out my store credit covered it and that meant it was free. haha
Fall Into Darkness I remember reading this one in fifth grade and eating it up. The drama and the suspense of who killed Ann was so much fun.
Gimme a Kiss I can't tell if I read this one or not. I think I did, but I'm not sure.
Master of Murder This was a reading experience I remember vividly and I loved this book. I'm curious if it still holds up.
The Grave I paid probably a little more than I should $15, but this book is so hard to find and I decided to just get it while it was a reasonable price as opposed to anything $20 and higher.
The Season of the Passage I love how subtle this cover is. I know this is one of Pike's adult novels, so I know it'll be different from his YA.
The Star Group This plot sounds so good. I really like Pike's sci-fi stuff after reading Monster, so I'm excited for this one!
Fear Street
The Wrong Number #5 I hated this one as a kid, but I really had so much fun with it. It's a fun mystery with high-level suspense for a Fear Street novel. 4 stars (reread)
The Sleepwalker #6 This cover and my copy is in great condition. I'm so happy! I loved this one when I was younger and I read it when I was in fourth grade, but because it was one of the few I read early on I think it stuck with me.
Haunted #7 This was one of, if not, my favorite Fear Street growing up. I can't wait to revisit this one.
Halloween Party #8 This was a mediocre edition to the Fear Street series, but I did love the idea and concept of a Halloween Party thrown for revenge with the intention to kill everyone. 3 stars (reread)
The Stepsister #9 Oh, how I hated this book growing up. I think this is my most hated Fear Street novel. I abhorred this book. At least I have the better cover now than the horrible weird holographic profile.
Ski Weekend #10 I remember being scandalized when someone said ass when I read this in fifth grade. LMAO
The Fire Game #11 I know I read this, but I have no memories or emotions when I look at the cover.
Lights Out #12 I never read this one and it was hard to find, but I am excited to check it out.
The Secret Bedroom #13 I am obsessed with this cover. I remember having fun with this book, but I can't remember a single thing about it.
The Knife #14 I have always loved this cover. It's unsettling and the colors work so well together. I remember feeling pretty meh towards this one, but I'm excited to reread it and see if it's as mediocre as I think it is.
The Best Friend #17 Honey and Becca are iconic and memorable characters. Crazy how those were two names I remember (like Reva LOL). This ending is a shocker and I loved it. 3.75 stars (reread)
The New Boy #20 This one was a favorite. God, I remember thinking that boy was hot as a kid. Not so much after reading the book. LMAO
Bad Dreams #22 I love this cover. It's cheesy, but a favorite. Can't wait to reread this one.
Double Date #23 I never read this one and all I know about is that it's about a boy playing two twins. Obviously, it's not going to go well.
The Mind Reader #26 I remember liking this one a lot as a kid. Hoping it holds up!Wrong Number 2 #27 I never wanted to read this one, but after enjoying Wrong Number upon reread, I am excited to read the follow-up.
Switched #31 R.L. Stine says this is one of his favorite books and it was one of the plots I remember having the most fun reading.
The Stepsister 2 #33 I remember liking this cover a lot as a kid, but I didn't care for The Stepsister books at all. I hated them both. hahaha
What Holly Heard #34 I have never read this one or even seen it in person. Holding it feels like holding a golden ticket.
The Face #35 This cover is so dramatic. This is one I have never read!
The Confession #38 I remember that being disappointed by this one. I wanted so much more from it, but I hope I have a different opinion as an adult.
Fear Hall: The Beginning #46 I had a fun time reading this duology back in the day and I'm curious to see if it holds up.
Fear Hall: The Conclusion #47 I will not lie. I still remember the twist for this book. LOL Crazy how certain books just stick with you.
Fear Street Superchillers
Party Summer #1 in the Superchiller series I remember owning and liking this one quite a bit when I was younger.
Broken Hearts #4 I never read this one, but I remember being obsessed with the cover. It was always the elusive one I wanted to read and never found.
Silent Night 2 #5 The Silent Night covers are the absolute BEST. I loved this trilogy when I was younger and I can't wait to revisit Reva and her horribleness while experiencing her never learning a lesson.
The Dead Lifeguard #6 I think this was one I liked a lot, but honestly I can't remember anything about it.Bad Moonlight #8 Y'all this book was ICONIC. I remember reading it and being absolutely blown away. I have extremely fond memories about the plot. Can't wait to reread it!
Silent Night 3 #11 This is one of my absolute favorite covers. I remember being so spooked by it growing up. Obsessed!
Fear Street Cheerleaders
The First Evil #1 I started reading this one and took it on a trip with me. It was damaged by a Dr. Pepper that I thought I closed. I had to buy another copy! This was a BLAST! It's quite dark and campy, but I loved how their were no red herrings and just straight up evil spirits causing problems. 5 stars
The Second Evil #2 Obsessed with this cover. It looks so spooky! I have started this one and it definitely is a lot of fun and as dark as book one.
The Third Evil #3 This cover is so cringe, but I also kind of love it. I think I owned a copy of this one and could never find the first two, so I never read the series growing up.
The New Evil #4 and #7 Super Chiller This one crosses over as a Super Chiller and a Cheerleaders book, so that's interesting! I need to get the fifth Cheerleader book and then I will have a complete set.

The Dark Secret #2 These books are hard to hunt down, so I was excited to see it nestled and buried deep at a used bookstore that I frequent.
The Deadly Fire #3 I was so happy that this one was in a lot of Fear Street books. Now I only have to buy the first one!
Fear Park:
The First Scream #1 Another set of Fear Street books that are hard to find. Glad to have these!
The Loudest Scream #2 I love this cover! I only need book 3 and then I'll have a full set!
Fear Street Sagas:
A New Fear #1 I remember being so frustrated as a kid that the library had a lot of the other books, but not the first one in the Sagas series.
House of Whispers #2 I remember liking this one quite a bit. Excited to revisit this series for sure.
Forbidden Secrets #3 I loved this one growing up and the cover is a favorite.
The Sign of Fear #4 This one was so cheesy, but I remember having fun with it. God, that cover is horrendous.
The Hidden Evil #5 Creepy kids are creepy. I liked this one a lot growing up. I have always been a sucker for the evil kids trope.
Daughters of Silence #6 This photoshop job. Was there photoshop back then? I think so, but also this was probably my least favorite in the series from what I remember.
Children of Fear #7 I never read this one, so I'm super excited to have it.
Dance of Death #8 This was my favorite Fear Street Saga book when I was younger. I loved this one so much. Now I have two copies LOL
Heart of a Hunter #9 I loved this book a ton. I remember where I finished it everything. Super excited to revisit this one!
The Awakening Evil #10 This one definitely looks like a Cheerleader book and I'm going to have to pick it up to quench my current Cheerleader binge. LOL
Circle of Fire #11 The last Fear Street Sagas book I was able to acquire and one I never read. Also, I hate the sudden cover change. No bueno.
Point Horror:
Freeze Tag by Caroline B. Cooney- I am obsessed with this cover. It's amazing and just absolutely perfect. I have no clue what the plot of this book is, but it's got a bomb cover, so what else do I really need to know?
Teacher's Pet by Richie Tankersley Cusick- I hate this cover, but the plot sounds interesting.
Starstruck by Richie Tankersley Cusick- This one isn't Point Horror, but I got it in a giant Cusick EBAY lot of books, so I'm going to put it here.
The Lifeguard by Richie Tankersley Cusick- This was a book I owned when I was little and just never got around to reading. Happy to have it back in my possession and planning to actually read it this time.
Help Wanted by Richie Tankersley Cusick- I absolutely love this cover and I'm excited to read this one.
Trick of Treat by Richie Tankersley Cusick- This is definitely one I will be picking up for Halloween.
April Fools by Richie Tankersley Cusick- Who throws a party on April Fools? Already this book is suss.
Vampire by Richie Tankersley Cusick- I LOVE THIS COVER. Absolutely pulply and gives a great throwback to old movie posters.
The Locker by Richie Tankersley Cusick- The inside flap of this book is so cool! I'm excited to get to this one.
Someone at the Door by Richie Tankersley Cusick- I love how subtle this cover is. It's pretty eerie.
The Mall by Richie Tankersley Cusick- This cover is so well done and designed! Whoever did most of Cusick's covers absolutely SLAYED it.
Silent Stalker by Richie Tankersley Cusick- RATS! They actually happen to be one of my biggest fears, but I love this cover. Probably because I am a little terrified while looking at it for too long.
Fatal Secrets by Richie Tankersley Cusick- This cover has everything creepy on it. Creepy dolls, horses, and puppets.
Dream Date by Sinclair Smith- This is a fan favorite among Point Horror readers and I definitely have to give this one a shot.
The Mummy by Barbara Steiner- I will be honest. I don't really do Egyptian horror or mummy horror because I tend to find its addled in racist stereotypes that make it hard to enjoy the ditziness of the story. Oh, well. I will give it a shot and hope it proves me wrong.
The Waitress by Sinclair Smith- Not as loved as Dream Date, but has an interesting synopsis.
Avalanche by Arthur J. Roth- This is one I am not really all that interested in, but it is hard to find and I was lucky enough to have this one thrown into the lot for a cheap price.
Sister Dearest by D.E. Athkins- This one sounds interesting enough.
The Boyfriend by R.L. Stine- Ah, this book takes me back. I remember reading this on a summer day all into the night. Excited to revisit it.
The Baby-Sitter by R.L. Stine- I owned the bind-ups of the four books split into two back in the day. I can't remember if I read them, but this cover cracks me up. Her facial expressions.
The Baby-Sitter III by R.L. Stine- I prefer this cover much more to the first Baby-Sitter book.
Twisted by R.L. Stine- I find this cover to be super intense and haunting.
Beach Party by R.L. Stine- This one looks like a nice summer thriller.
The Fog by Caroline B. Cooney- I am curious about this one. I want it to live up to my expectations, but I suspect my expectations are too high.
Flight #116 is Down by Caroline B. Cooney- This book isn't Point Horror, but I'm going to leave it here because I feel like it fits the genre/type of book associated with Point Horror.
The Séance by Joan Lowry Nixon- Grady Hendrix's review on Goodreads has me giggling.
Other Side of Dark by Joan Lowry Nixon- Coma horror! I suspect that Lowry Nixon was too good for Point Horror and was like the top tier SK of teen pulp horror.
Ransom by Lois Duncan- I know Duncan isn't associated with campy novels, but I'm going to put her with my Point Horror section 'cause I can.
Killing Mr. Griffin by Lois Duncan- I started this and never finished it as a kid. I hope it's juicy.
Down a Dark Hall by Lois Duncan- I've heard good things about this one from a wide variety of readers, so it seems quite promising.
Dark Angel by L.J. Smith- I loved the Night World books and I'm butthurt the last book never came out. I remember loving this one a lot. I think I may want to revisit this series as well as finally read The Forbidden Game.
Overkill by Alane Ferguson-I love this cover a ton.
Final Exam by A. Bates- This is one of the more popular Point Horror books. I hope it's a good one. Popular doesn't always equate to a novel being good.
Nightmare Mountain by Peg Kehret- I hate this cover. It's hideous.
Kiss of Death by Peter Beere- I love this cover and it's nice to own some Point Crime as well.
There's No Place Like Home by A.G. Cascone- I am obsessed with this cover. The blues and the dark tones. I love it!
Silent Witness by Carol Ellis- This seems to be a fan favorite among Point Horror readers.
Speeding Bullet by Neal Schusterman- This cover is hideous, but I'm curious to read some older Schusterman.
Prom Dress by Lael Littke- I feel like I owned this one or another book by Littke, but I can't remember if I read anything by her.
Summer of Fear by Lois Duncan- This one seems to be one that a lot of people enjoy. I am hoping that I will be impressed.
Gallows Hill by Lois Duncan- Witches! Potentially, maybe, possibly.
Wanted! by Caroline B. Cooney- This one sounds pretty intense and like it has a fascinating plot.
The Ripper by D.E. Athkins- I honestly don't even care about what this book is about, but I am ready to read it.
Anoka by Shane Hawk This was shorty story collection that focused on a wide array of topics and being Indigenous. I enjoyed it. 4 stars
Disco Deathtrap by Cameron Roubique I will not even lie to y'all. I bought this solely because 1) who doesn't want to read a slasher novel set at the disco 2) it looks like an old school horror.
Save the Last Dance for Me by Judi Miller- I bought this months ago online and it didn't have the step back. I found it with the step back at my used bookstore, so YAY!
Strange Angels by Kathe Koja- I have yet to read Kathe Koja, but I was excited to find this one hidden among the shelves.
Nowhere to Hide by Joan Hall Hovey- I love this old school cover and it sounds fascinating.
Haunted Heartland by Beth Scott & Michael Norman- Who doesn't love a good spooky ghost story? Also, this cover is amazing!
Abduction by Rodman Philbrick & Lynn Harnett- I may or may not have a video idea about old school alien novels.
The Night Boat by Robert R. McCammon- I am absolutely obsessed with McCammon's old school covers. So perfect and the color combinations.
Stinger by Robert R. McCammon- This cover is so dope! I've heard nothing only great things.
Gone South by Robert R. McCammon- This cover is different from the other McCammon's, but I'm super interested in this one because I've heard this one is a wonderful book.
Madeleine by Bernard Taylor- Isn't this the coolest cover? It's so striking and spooky.
The Moonstone Sickness by Bernard Taylor- This one sounds promising and I love how cheesy the cover is.
Mother's Boys by Bernard Taylor- I love the vibe of this cover. It looks like it'll be a psychological novel instead of a horror.
Dead to the World by J.N. Williamson- Who doesn't love this cover?!?! It has a running skeleton on it. Totally epic!
Carnival by William J. Johnstone- This cover is mesmerizing. I am glad I found this one because since I've learned that Johnstone is hard to find.
Shadowland by Peter Straub- This cover is really cool in person. Honestly, the back makes no sense to me so I still have no clue what this book is about.
Limb to Limb by John Russo- This cover is so creepy. I love the doll covers from the 80s and 90s.
Crib by Harold Lee Friedman- This cover isn't great until you see the stepback. It's a wonderful packaged deal. LOVE it!
Shrine by James Herbert- I saw Grady Hendrix post a photo of this one on his insta and then found the exact copy buried in the stacks. I don't know a whole lot about it, but I'm interested in this one and in The Rats.
The Glow by Brooks Stanwood- This one sounds like a ton of fun.
Cry for the Strangers by John Saul- Apparently, John Saul has a lot of books. This is one I decided to pick up because I liked the cover and it sounded interesting.
Icefire by Robert C. Wilson- It seems like this one is hated by most of its readers, but I'm willing to give it a shot.
House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland- I have heard excellent things about this book and I knew that I wanted a copy, so I decided to pick it up at Target when I saw it was on sale.
IT by Stephen King- I have read IT twice and never bought a copy when I started collecting King books in high school/college. This was fun to find cheap at Target and it's one of the covers that I prefer. 5 stars (reread)
The Institute by Stephen King- I have yet to read this one, but it sounds a lot like Firestarter (which is one of my favorite King novels).
The Silence by Tim Lebbon- This sounds spooky and I've heard great things about it.
Coldbrook by Tim Lebbon- Secret laboratory? Check. Zombies? Check I am excited to give this one a go.
The Whispering Dead by Darcy Coates- I am collecting Darcy Coates books. I have yet to finish one of them, but I am hoping to find a couple that I enjoy since there are so many of them.
Theme Music by T. Marie Vandelly- I love the paperback cover of this and I've heard great things from Rachel (Between Shades of Orange).
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski- I caved and finally bought it. I wanted to read alongside Lala's bookclub, but I knew 1) I didn't have time 2) I was in a reading slump 3) I hadn't bought a copy until after the bookclub liveshow aired.
Goddess of Filth by V. Castro- This was an impulse purchase because a bunch of people on Horror Booktube were hauling this book and it suddenly sounded interesting even though I wasn't interested before. I enjoyed this one! 4 stars
Near the Bone by Christina Henry- I had an ARC of this one and started it, but I loved it so much that I wanted to buy a copy. I loved this book. It was a wild ride and I am on my way to considering Henry to be a favorite author. 5 stars
Night Thunder by Ruby Jean Jensen- I am so intrigued by this author and I just want to hunt down all of her books.
Jump Rope by Ruby Jean Jensen- Killer jump rope! The 80s were a time to be alive for horror. I am sadly ten years behind the experience of being born and twenty years behind experiencing it at its pique, but boy, do I appreciate it!
Bethany's Sin by Robert R. McCammon- I love this cover. It's absolutely epic.
She-Devil by Lois Horowitz- I love this cover. It's a hard book to find, but I'm glad that I did!
Cameron's Closet by Gary Bradner- This sounds like a ton of fun and I've never heard it mentioned or talked about before, so I hope it's a good one!
Deadweight by Robert Devereaux- I like to think I'm not a splatterpunk reader, but I generally tend to like them. This one sounds really good.
The Inhuman Condition by Cliver Barker- I've slowly been collecting some Barker and I have the first three books in the Books of Blood series and now I have the fourth.
The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle- I have been wanting this forever and I happened to be standing in front of it for five minutes scanning the shelves in this one crevice in B&N when I spotted a copy. SO EXCITED!
The Thief of Always by Clive Barker- Jobis89 on Instagrama has raved so much about this book that I had to buy it!
The Remaking by Clay McLeod Chapman- I want to read this one in June! I'm obsessed with the concept and Quirk Books has the BEST designs for book packaging.
Lakewood by Megan Giddings- I have heard great things from BooksandLala and I can't wait to dive into this complex horror sci-fi.
The Nesting by C.J. Cooke- Gabbyreads loved this book and raved about so much in a vlog that I've had it on my radar for a couple of months. Super excited to spot this one in B&N!
The Loosening Skin by Aliya Whiteley- This cover trips me out, but I am intrigued by the concept.
Night Train by David Quantick- Confession time. I love horror novels or thriller novels set on trains. It ups the suspense for me.
The Children of Red Peak by Craig DiLouie- Cults and trauma from being brought up in a strict religious community. SAY LESS. Pulling up a chair.
Secret Santa by Andrew Shaffer- I am always down for some holiday horror and I can't wait to read this one in December.
Death-Coach by J.N. Williamson- I love this cover! So creepy.
Kin by Kealan Patrick Burke- Jordaline Reads raves about this book and I decided to buy it because why not? It sounds really good!
Fantasy/Sci-fi Books:
Damia by Anne McCaffrey #2 in The Tower and the Hive series I found a bunch of these at the used bookstore and dug the covers, so I decided to purchase them.
The Tower and the Hive by Anne McCaffrey #5 in The Tower and the Hive series I do not like this cover as much.
Severance by Ling Ma- I have heard great things about this novel and I decided to put it as an add on for my April BOTM box.
Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley- Everyone is raving about this one and I decided to pick it up and I'm glad I did because the BOTM add on doesn't have that hideous Reese's Book Club sticker on it.
Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao- This book had a lot of criticism before it was released and the author did rewrites. I have an original ARC before rewrite and a finished copy now. I will compare differences.
The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab- I remember when the hardcover came out in 2011. I'm glad they are rereleasing this one and this cover is stunning.
The Golem and The Jinni by Helene Wecker- I absolutely adore this Harper Perennial cover. These editions are so beautiful and affordable.
Sphere by Michael Crichton- I love water science books especially with alien elements. I'm excited to read this one!
Ariadne by Jennifer Smith- Minotaur retelling! I'm super excited for this one especially after just teaching The Odyssey.
MYSTERY/THRILLER BOOKS:
The Hunting Wives by May Cobb- This was my April Pick for BOTM and I am quite curious about this one. I hope I will like it.
My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite- This is a book that everyone has raved about. I can't wait to dive into this one! I read a short story by Braithwaite and liked it, so I'm hopeful I will love this one.
The Woman in the Dark by Vanessa Savage- I found this one in the thriller section and put it back and then found another copy in the horror section, so I decided to get it because I was taking it as a sign that the book wanted to go home with me.Confessions by Kanae Minato- This was SOOOOOO GOOD. The plot twists were impeccable. The philosophy and deconstruction of humanity was top notch and the ending was jaw dropping. This book SLAPS. 5 stars
