Books I've Read in 2018 #27-31

Hey, everyone! Today I'm talking about some of the books I've read in 2018. I read these a long time ago. It's been a long time since I read these books, but I've been meaning to post this video for months. Hopefully over the Thanksgiving break I can film a couple of more recent videos to upload.

Murder in the Bayou: Who Killed the Women Known as the Jeff Davis 8? by Ethan Brown 4 stars This is a very interesting true crime story that is based in a town not far away from my hometown. Do I think that this novel is the best true crime out there? No, but I greatly enjoyed this one.
Dimension Drift Prequel by Christina Bauer 2.5 stars I was not a huge fan of this one. It is one of those YA novels that is just meant to be fun and does not go beyond that. I did think it was fun, but I don't think this is going to go beyond that. Check out my review here.
Pygmy by Chuck Palahniuk 2.5 stars This is a satire and it definitely runs with intense offensive language. This novel is outrageous and it goes completely to the left field and keeps going. I'm still not sure how I really feel about this one.
Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian 3.5 stars This is the final book in the Burn for Burn trilogy and I breezed through it, but it was my least favorite of the books. I just wasn't completely satisfied with the ending, but I ate up the drama and the supernatural elements.
The Mars Room by Rachel Kushner 4 stars This novel follows a woman in a correctional facility after she commits a crime that her son witnesses and the other women she meets there. It's an in depth character study and I wasn't blown away like I hoped I would be, but I thought this novel was incredibly impressive and has merit. Check out my review here.

 Recommend the Most:
The Mars Room for those who love character studies and Murder in the Bayou for those who are interested in true crime. Both of them are crime centered novels, so if that's your jam (like it seems to be mine) then these are good ones.

  1. I completely agree about Ashes to Ashes - I wasn't completely sold by that ending, it frustrated me a little bit haha. But overall, it was still a fun read :) x

    1. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one! I was so disappointed because I wanted it to be as dramatic as the series had been building it up to be.
