Bible Plans on the App That I Recommend

Hey, everyone! Something I want to start doing on this blog is incorporating for of my Christian life and reading into it. This blog is a special place for me and I'd love to add another of my soul to this place. I read a lot of genres, but over the last year I've really gotten into Christian Living and within that genre I was introduced to Devotionals. Devotionals are daily thoughts of an author that incorporate bible verses and themes. I use the Bible App on my iPhone and it's such a great resource! It's efficient because you can read the Word at any time. Plus, the Plans on the App are my favorite!

Plans have really helped me connect to God on a deeper level while I'm praying and God has sent me many plans, verses, and messages that have gotten me through many tough seasons and situations this year. I want to recommend some of my favorite Bible plans to you. These are ones that changed my life and my spiritual journey. I won't be listing all of the bible plans that I've completed this year (because that would be way too many), but here are some of the ones that impacted me the most. The great thing about devotionals on the Bible app is that they are usual introductions to novels. So if you are in the market for Christian novels and don't where to start, here are some excerpts and starting points. I'll be listing in these in order of the ones that I recommend the most/ had the biggest impact on me.

She Believes by Debbie Lindell
5-day Devotional
This devotional changed my life in the summer. It created a fire in my soul for the Lord and sparked a deeper connection with Him. My prayer time became more intimate because of this devotional, but I also gained confidence in my beliefs and in my connection to the Savior. It was exciting. There is also a novel for this devotional and I was lucky enough for the Lord to lead me to a copy in the bargain section at Mardel's. I can't wait for when God calls me to pick the novel up because I know it'll hit me hard.

Walking with Bruised Heels by Laynie Travis
7-Day Devotional
This is one of my favorite bible plans I found it by complete accident. It discusses how the enemy is looking to attack us and how we walk this earth with bruised heels, but Jesus binds our wounds. I'm going to hopefully do some more of her plans in 2019.

Overcoming Fear & Anxiety Through Spiritual Warfare by Dr. Carol Peters-Tanksley
5-Day Devotional
There was a time during the summer when my anxiety was so bad. The enemy was using my fear of the future as a crippling and overwhelming debilitation, but during this time I sought out the Lord and this devotional was one of the tools I used to find solace and build up my prayer life. I loved this devotional and I've recommended it to several people during seasons of anxiety and it has helped them. There is a novel for this one as well!

Whisper: How to Hear the Voice of God by Mark Batterson
5-day Devotional
I loved this devotional. I loved the challenging topics and the introspection I had in my prayer time with Jesus after reading. This fundamentally changed how I communicate with God. I had heard the Spirit audibly whisper a few times before and even more often communicate with me in conversation, but those were brief and quick snippets. This challenged me to let the Lord speak and not cut Him off out of fear when He was speaking. The words He spoke were to encourage and fill me with for things to come and equip me in His love for the battles I would face. This devotional brought me to the point where I stopped running from His voice and instead welcomed it. There is a novel and I would not be opposed to checking it out.

It's Not Supposed to be This Way by Lysa TerKeurst
5-day Devotional
This devo was so good. It was the last one I did in 2018 and it was a wonderful way to finish the year. I was moved by this and at first I wasn't sure if this one would pertain to me, but God kept putting the thought to start this one and I'm glad I did. I just finished TerKeurst's novel Uninvited and it was absolutely fantastic. I'm looking forward to picking up the novel that this novel is based off of because I know my spirit will be convicted by Jesus' love.

Happy You, Happy Life! by Drenda Keesee
14-day Devotional
I loved this devotional so much when I did it over the summer. I completed it alongside some of my friends and I loved the conversations that took place. There are so many great topics in this one and it just really spoke to my soul. It brought me great comfort and it pushed me closer to God. I remember this devotional fueling a lot of great prayer time and allowing me to connect with Jesus intimately. I recommend it if that's something you are searching for!

Real-Life Devotional by Lysa TerKeurst
14-day Devotional
Lysa TerKeurst is one of my favorite Christian speakers and authors. Every time I encounter her work, I feel the Spirit moving through her. This is a longer devotional plan, but it is absolutely worth the little extra time. I adored this plan and it had a resounding impact on my connection to God during a couple of harder weeks this summer. There are also voices from other Proverbs 31 Ministries writers and it's a great way to branch into the P31 Ministry (which I am a fan of).
The Prophet's Manual by John Eckhardt
5-day Devotional
The spiritual gift of prophecy is the one that we should pray for the most. This semester really shook me up because the Spirit was using me as a prophet and I needed to some guidance on the subject. This was incredibly powerful and really enlightening for looking at some of the greatest prophet's in the Bible. There is also a novel for this, but I'm not sure if I'll read it. If God calls me to and it finds its way into my hands, then I definitely will!

Listening to God by Amy Groeschel
7-day Devotional
This devo is so important for connecting your soul to Jesus. There is some wonderful spiritual nuggets of truth and it's beautifully touching. I absolutely adore this one and I completed it alongside my mom. She has done this devo twice and loved it. If you are struggling to listen or find yourself shutting Him out, due to fear. This is a wonderful place for spiritual wisdom and stimulation for you to overcome fear and let those chains fall to wrap your arms around Jesus!

Experience 14 Days of Fresh Air by Chris Hodges
I loved this devotional. I did this one at the very start of the summer with some friends and it was a refreshing and spiritually moving devotional. I was spiritually uplifted and I felt a deep connection to the Lord as I walked through this devotional and the Bible verses really spoke to me each day. There is a novel for this one which I didn't realize until I was writing this post which is exciting.

Destroying the Spirit of Rejection by John Eckhardt
6-day Devotional
I absolutely loved this devotional. I did this one with my Life Group and it was great to see the discussions and thoughts after each reading. I didn't realize that this was the same author of The Prophet's Manual devo, but I am so happy that I've read another by him. This one focuses on deliverance from demons of rejection. It's a very Spirit-lead devotional, but I know that may be off-putting for some depending on their beliefs. However, it aligns with mine and how I believe God gifts us and wants to walk in the spiritual realm with guidance from the Spirit. So, if that's something you are interested in spiritually, then this is a good plan. This one is a novel and I may check it out!
Love Defined by Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird
7-day Devotional
This plan tackles defining love (particularly agape love) and how that translates into our life with intimate relationships. This plan challenged my viewpoint on submitting to a husband and y'all God showed me the verses with spiritual eyes instead of earthly ones and it was interesting. This devo is based off of a novel and I'm definitely going to check it out.

God Comes Through on Time by Kennetra A. Bryant
6-day Devotional
This plan tackles a lot of Scripture. It's a lot and it goes hard. If you are looking for a more Scripture-focused plan, then this is one of the best. The use of stories from the Bible to relate to the daily topics is amazing and uplifting. This is one of the more recent plans I've finished and I'm definitely going to do more plans by Bryant in the future.
The 7 Day Anxiety Detox by Brittney Moses
7-day Devotional
I was struggling a lot with my anxiety this summer because I was preparing spiritually to reach out to young women, build relationships with them, and lead them to Christ. It felt daunting and while God kept telling me that I was destined and called for this, the enemy's whispers overwhelmed my soul at times. This plan really helped calm me down and reground myself before I started my semester.  My co-leader and I also used some verses that this plan uses when we wrote a guide for Life Group on anxiety before finals week.

Enough: Silencing the Lies That Steal Your Confidence by Sharon Jaynes
7-Day Devotional
I did this plan with a large group of friends and I loved it. There was something about this plan that really hit me and made me excited about spending time with the Lord. This devotional is what sparked a zeal for chasing the Lord more intimately and finding a new way to connect to Him.
Right People, Right Place, Right Plan by Jentezen Franklin
7-day Devotional
I really enjoyed this devotional. I don't think I would love it as much if I were to do it now, but this was exactly what I needed at the time. God always sends things to us when we need them and I really needed this to prepare me for the fall semester. There is a novel, but I don't feel called at this time to read it. Maybe in the future my heart will change.

C.S. Lewis & the Call to Create by Jordan Raynor
4-day Devotional
C.S. Lewis is well-known for being a Christian apologist and he has written some of the most prolific novels (Chronicles of Narnia, The Screwtape Letters, Mere Christianity) and this devotional focuses on using creativity to serve God. I love Lewis which is the main reason why I did this devotional. I really enjoyed walking through this one.

These are 17 devotionals I did in the year of 2018 that I recommend the most and that have greatly affected me. I hope and pray that some of these devotionals find a place in your spiritual walk with the Lord and that if you don't do devotionals, but read novels that some of these will lead you to the novel that the Lord is calling you to. I believe He sends us to novels, devotionals, videos, and songs when we need them most because He knows that we need encouragement to edify Him and find confidence in walking with Him. My prayer for 2018 is to continue finding and embracing new ways to connect to Him spiritually and I hope the plans I encounter in the future will prayerfully impact me unexpectedly.

Are you called to any of these plans? What are some Bible plans that have impacted you in 2018? Let me know down below in the comments!
