Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Prequel to the Dark-Hunter series
5 stars
Julian of Macedon was trapped in a book two thousand years ago by Greek god as a sex slave, forced to please any woman who summons him. Grace Alexander’s friend Selena gives the book to Grace hoping to make her more trusting of men. Grace summons Julian as a joke to please Selena. Grace is shocked when Julian pops up in her house. Reading the summary I just typed made me laugh. This book was pretty cheesy, but I loved it anyway. Kenyon’s a great writer but this book was a cheese fest (which is fine by me because I love cheese).
The main female character is Grace. I really liked Grace. She wasn’t an I’ll-kick-your-butt-if-you-so-much-as-look-at-me-funny heroine, but she was a good heroine. Plus her reaction to finding Julian was priceless and it made me laugh.
Kick-Butt Heroine Scale: 8
The main male character is Julian. Julian is a definite swoon worthy male and he isn’t a jerk to Grace which is a big bonus. Julian went through some unfair stuff, but he got a happy ending.
Swoon Worthy Scale: 9
The Villain- That would ruin the adventure of the story if I said who it is.
Villain Scale: 7.5
Selena, Grace’s fortune telling friend was hilarious and her scenes were always funny.
Character Scale: 9
I don’t know what it is about Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books, but I always seem to love them and get sucked in. I’m glad I read this, because it introduced me to the world of Dark-Hunters and a series I love dearly.
Cover Thoughts: The cover is OK. I’m not a fan of it, but I don’t hate it.
