Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh
Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh
First in the Guild Hunter series
5 stars
Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux hunts vampires. These vampires are made by angels and when the vampires decide they don’t want to be owned by them anymore, she hunts them down and brings them back to the angels. Elena has a special ability that makes her different from the other hunters. That ability has caught the attention of the powerful, beautiful, fearsome, Raphael. Raphael is an archangel and he wants her to track another archangel turned bad and no is not an option. I had been hearing a lot of buzz about Nalini Singh. Mostly about her Psy-Changeling novels, which I’m dying to read. I went to the library hoping to get Slave to Sensation and they didn’t have it, but they did have Angels’ Blood. It looked interesting and I was curious to see why Ms. Singh was such a big hit in PNR. I was blown away by this novel. Ms. Singh went beyond my expectations and brought me a new world. The world she created felt real and when an author is able to make me feel that way I usually end up loving the book.
The main female character is Elena. Elena is a pretty cool heroine. Let’s face it, she’s the kind of girl whose toes you don’t want to step on because you’re sure not to have any toes left. Elena was a definite character that made me applaud her badassery.
Kick-Butt Heroine Scale: 9
The main male character is Raphael. Raphael is an archangel. I’m sure a lot of people think he’s a big A-Hole, but seriously if I was an archangel I would be pretty mean to people to if they tried to step on my toes, but that’s just me. I loved Raphael and I think he’s HOT.
Swoon Worthy Scale: 9.5
The Villain- Hmm… I like where Ms. Singh is going with this series. I’m not going to talk about the villain or villains ‘cause that would give the suspense away from the readers.
Villain Scale: 7.5
I loved the other male archangels and I want to read books about them.
Character Scale: 9.5
I think it’s pretty obvious that I think this book was awesome and I know that a lot are people aren’t as impressed because it’s apparently not as amazing as the Psy-Changeling books, but since I haven’t read that series yet I wouldn’t know. The ending was epic and I’m looking forward to reading the next book.
Cover Thoughts: I like the cover, but that’s not how I pictured Elena to look. Elena looks a lot fiercer to me; this girl looks too frail to hunt vampires.
