Chain Reaction by Simone Elkeles
Chain Reaction by Simone Elkeles
Third in the Perfect Chemistry series
5 stars
Chain Reaction stars Luis Fuentes, a brother we hadn’t seen much of in the previous books. Luis is considered the “good” brother in the Fuentes household or at least that’s what his family thinks. The truth is Luis is an adrenaline junkie and does whatever he can to feel a rush. Nikki Cruz has been raised on the north side of Fairfeld and even though she has Spanish blood running through her veins she has no connection with that side of her heritage. When Nikki’s boyfriend breaks up with her to join the Latino Blood, she’s heartbroken and she might also be pregnant. She meets Luis at Brittney and Alex’s wedding she knows he’s trouble and she should stay away. But as time passes it becomes easier said than done.
This is the last book about the Fuentes brothers and I’m heartbroken.
I love this series and I recommend to anyone whenever I get the chance. I’m sad to see it end, but it’s time to talk about the book. Since Chain Reaction is the last book featuring the Fuentes brothers I had really high expectations and Chain Reaction didn’t disappoint.
The main female character is Nikki. Nikki went through a lot during the course of this novel and she was incredibly strong for what she went through. I commend her for her strength. Nikki has serious trust issues after her boyfriend and it’s understandable, I’m glad she decided to give Luis a shot though, since he wasn’t that bad of a guy.
Kick-Butt Heroine Scale: 7.5
The main male character is Luis. Luis has always been known as the “good” brother, who wants to an astronaut, but Luis loves danger and that’s put him a lot of not-so-good positions. Luis was very cocky, but I think it’s a certain gene that the Fuentes boys have. I’m glad Luis got a happy ending because he deserved one.
Swoon Worthy Scale: 7.5
The Villain- The villain was in a way Hector himself, but it was mainly the Blood. It sounds very confusing, but if you want it to make sense then pick up the book. ;)
Villain Scale: 6
Character Scale: 7.5
I’m going to miss the Fuentes boys, but they all got their HEA. The epilogue was good to, maybe they’ll be a spin-off series about their kids. Probably not going to happen, but a girl can dream.
Cover Thoughts: I really like the cover and water seemed to be a recurring thing with the covers. I think Perfect Chemistry was the only one without water on the cover, but I like the cover looking at it makes me miss this series.
