Born of Ice by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Born of Ice by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Third in The League series
4.5 stars
Devyn Kell spent most of his life serving the League, until he had to choose between saving a dying child’s life or leaving him to die. After he left, he became a Runner- someone who brings weapons, medicine, and other supplies that planets need illegally. Alix Garran is a slave forced to become a spy to save her mother and sister and turn Devyn into the Ritordian government. Devyn is Shahara and Syn’s son. Bet you didn’t see that one coming. I know I didn’t. Devyn wasn’t really a tortured hero at least not like Nykyrian and Syn. I liked Born of Ice but the chemistry between Devyn and Alix was lacking. I honestly didn’t feel any attraction between the two characters and this book dragged on a little bit too much in places.
The main female character is Alix. I wasn’t really a fan of Alix. I don’t know what it is, but I didn’t like her as much as Kiara and Shahara. She didn't really catch my attention as a character.
Kick-Butt Heroine Scale: 7
The main male character is Devyn. Devyn was OK. He didn’t make my heartthrob like Nykyrian or my fangirl scream like Syn, but he wasn’t bad and he had really good moments.
Swoon Worthy Scale: 7.5
The Villain- I love the villain in this novel. He’s such a good villain and what a shocker. I wasn’t expecting him to be the villain at all.
Villain Scale: 8
Character Scale: 8
Aside from the lacking chemistry and not amazing characters, I enjoyed this book. I love Kenyon’s writing, but I was a little disappointed with this book.
Cover Thoughts: The cover reminds me a lot of the cover for Born of Night only it’s not green and this book seems icy. OMG I just realized that the cover gives off an icy effect and this book is called Born of Ice. That’s a good one. That made me really like this cover.
